Acorn Bank Watermill Trust

Restoration of the Mill Building

In 1989 The National Trust started a complete restoration of the mill buildings. By this time the condition of the building had deteriorated with the roof fallen in and some of the stonework crumbling. The pictures below show the state in 1984.

The project started with clearing the buildings and sorting all the materials, storing those that could be reused in the restored building.
