Covid Arrangements

From Saturday, 22nd May our mill rooms will once again be open to visitors. However, to help keep everyone safe and to comply with social distancing and government guidance we have put in place the following arrangements:

Look out for signs while you are here which will explain any changes to how you can access different parts of the mill site.

Mill volunteers will be on hand both to ensure social distancing rules are being observed and to answer any questions visitors may have.

If you are showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you have been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please do not visit.

Toilets can be found in the main garden courtyard of Acorn Bank House and are subject to a one-in-one-out distancing rule. This includes a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. Please follow social distancing guidelines and stay two metres apart.

Seating is available in the courtyard if you wish to bring your own picnic. Please remember to clear your own tables and dispose of waste in the bin provided.

Dogs on leads are very welcome to visit the Mill.

If you wish to see our detailed Covid and Visitor Risk Assessments these can be found HERE.

Plan of the site

The Mill is on the Acorn Bank estate and is situated 350m from the reception hut near the house along a level, compacted gravel footpath. The path through the woods can be steep in places and there are some steps and wheelchair users are advised not to use it.

The lower mill rooms are accessed down 12 steep, narrow steps and along a narrow corridor. The lower mill room has a large step down and the mill wheel is accessed through a wide room with flagstone floor, across a wooden platform and down 3 more steps. The courtyard is cobbled and irregular.
